Shaquil Barrett: NFL star mourns drowned daughter

Officers were dispatched to Barrett’s home in the Beach Park neighborhood of south Tampa and the football player’s daughter was taken to a hospital. Any help came too late, the doctors could only determine the death of the girl.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the police report. However, the emergency services expect a “purely coincidental tragic incident”.

Tampa Bay reacted with dismay at the death of the daughter of their star line hacker, who won the Super Bowl with the team in February 2021. “Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family at this unimaginably difficult time,” the Buccaneers said in a statement.

Barrett, who is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon that sidelined him in the second half of last season, is entering his fifth year at Tampa Bay after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos.
