“In the Upper Austrian league, the coaches determine their exit,” OÖN wrote in the football news on Monday – now the next coach in the highest league in the federal state has thrown in the towel: Ronald Riepl and Edelweiss Linz are going their separate ways with immediate effect .
Differences of opinion in the game philosophy and alignment are given by the club as a reason for the separation. After the 43-year-old was informed of this, Riepl decided to resign immediately.
Rothbauer and Stumpf take over
In the remaining games of the season, a duo with concentrated experience will now take over: in the away game on Saturday in St. Martin/M. Manfred Rothbauer will look after the people of Linz on an interim basis. From next week, the 47-year-old ex-professional will also be supported by Christian Stumpf. Both of them made 392 Bundesliga games together in their active careers. A new coach will take over from the summer.
