The royals always throw parties for people who volunteer in the summer. But there was also a familiar face hiding in yesterday’s group.
The American soul singer Lionel Richie (73/”All Night Long”) was a guest at a garden party at Buckingham Palace in London yesterday. With a top hat and fine thread, he showed himself together with his partner Lisa Parigi (32).
He met King Charles (74) and Queen Camilla (75) there, the British news agency PA reported. The royal couple is due to be crowned at Westminster Abbey on Saturday.
Richie is one of a number of stars appearing at Sunday’s coronation concert in Windsor. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he told reporters. He has known Charles for many years through working together for charity.
“Believe me, he really cares, he tackles,” Richie enthused about the monarch. The musician did not want to reveal any details about his performance. The concert, he predicted, would be “magical”.
The royals regularly throw parties during the summer with thousands of guests – mostly people who are to be honored for their volunteer work and who can hope to have small talk with members of the royal family at the opportunity.
