At the Ministry of the Interior in Vienna, Ramona Siebenhofer informed the public about her departure from competitive sports. The 31-year-old will start working as a police officer in the Murau District Inspectorate in the middle of the year. “I’m looking forward to a new chapter in my life,” said Siebenhofer. After 14 years from Siebenhofer in the Alpine World Cup and 205 World Cup starts, Ski Austria President Roswitha Stadlober had “a laughing and a crying eye”: “Ramona has played an important role in the women’s team. She will continue to go her way with determination .”
motivation problems
As the main reason for her step, Siebenhofer tearfully stated that she no longer had the full motivation and conviction for professional sport. “I’m no longer willing to subordinate my whole life to skiing,” said Siebenhofer, who explicitly thanked her partner, her uncle Werner, “who was my first coach”, her sponsors, outfitter Fischer and the USV Krakauebene club.
Siebenhofer made her World Cup debut on December 28, 2009 in Lienz. All seven of her podium places came on the downhill. In January 2019 she celebrated two victories in Cortina d’Ampezzo within 24 hours.
