San Lorenzo reaffirmed his chances of fighting for the title of the Professional Leagueby agonizingly beating Banfield by 2 to 1, as a visitor, in a match valid for the sixteenth date, played this afternoon in the south of Buenos Aires.
Jalil Elías had opened the account for “Ciclón” after 11 minutes of play but, at 28, Juan Bisanz tied the game.
Meanwhile, and in stoppage time of the second period, Nahuel Barrios gave Boedo’s team the victory.
Thanks to this victory, San Lorenzo was five points behind River, the only leader, who will visit Talleres de Córdoba tomorrow in another key game.
Shortly after the match began, Elías got rid of his mark inside the area and smoothly defined the far post of Facundo Cambeses to make it 1-0.
However, Banfield felt touched, he went in search of equality and achieved it around 28: the Uruguayan Alemán sent a great cross to the penalty spot where Bisanz was, who finished first and tied the game.
Already in the second part, the match flattened out and the parity on the scoreboard began to settle both but, at 50, Barrios defined within the Banfileña area and gave San Lorenzo the agonizing victory, which continues to dream of reaching title.
Rubén Darío Insúa’s team, which has reached 32 points, will continue its path in the tournament when it receives Instituto de Córdoba at the Pedro Bidegain Stadium while, on Julio César Falcioni’s side, they will visit Estudiantes de La Plata in Jorge Luis Hirschi Stadium.
