Now FC Blau-Weiss Linz can only beat itself: With the 2-0 win at title rivals SKN St. Pölten, coach Gerald Scheiblehner’s team took the lead in the 2nd soccer league and is three rounds before the end of the season by two each Points ahead of the Lower Austrians and the third GAK. In the event of a tie, the direct duels also speak in favor of Linz.

“We’ve taken a big step, but we still have three difficult tasks ahead of us,” striker Ronivaldo didn’t want to know about a decision in the promotion battle. The 34-year-old Brazilian is increasingly becoming a blue-and-white life insurance policy: The 2-0 win against St. Pölten was his 18th goal of the season – 13 of which he scored in the spring. He even dreamed of his goal on Friday, when he surprised SKN goalie Franz Stolz with a lob from almost 50 meters in the finish: “God is big. I had a dream in which God told me that I will score a goal against St. Pölten.”

“You’re fine now”

It was not Ronivaldo’s first encounter with supernatural powers. In 2015, when the Brazilian moved from Kapfenberg to Bundesliga club Austria Wien, the most difficult time in the career of the samba kicker began: an inflammation of the pubic bone stopped the attacker – a long period of suffering began. While the violets had long since labeled him a transfer flop, Ronivaldo had already come to terms with the end of his career in his Brazilian homeland and started looking for a job, God paved his way back – as the legionnaire says: “One night I had a dream at home God said to me, ‘You are fit now’. The next morning I got up and went for a run. When I came back, my wife asked me, ‘Why are you exercising, aren’t you injured?’ I told her about the dream . I didn’t feel anything while running. I never felt the pain again.”

Setbacks that only made him stronger – and did not let him despair even in difficult times. There was also one at Blau-Weiss: In the fall, the top scorer had to line up behind colleague Fally Mayulu. “Ronny has worked on that over the past few months. In the fall, the goals may not have gone that well for him, but he always did his best,” praised teammate Tobias Koch.

Ronivaldo has already scored 136 goals in the second division – he is only missing one goal in the Bundesliga. Maybe this dream will come true soon.
