“I’m happy to be here now,” said the future Mannheimer. “If I have the chance to play for Germany, I’ll take it. I’ve played the last two World Cups and seen how much fun it is and how much you can inspire people at home,” said the offensive player Defender. “Therefore, there was no question for me to come here.”

Gawanke announced that he wanted to score “maybe one or two goals”: “I think I can of course help with the power play.” Germany had lost the first two World Cup games without a gawanke against title favorites Sweden (0:1) and Finland (3:4).
