It was the worthy finale of a gripping Transdanubia soccer state cup: in front of 1000 spectators in Wallern, Bad Schallerbach’s Miliam Guerrib scored the knockout blow against Wallern, second in the Upper Austria League ( 116.). After the 3:2 (2:2) victory, the state league champions can look forward to a prize of 10,000 euros and a place in the ÖFB Cup.
“Incredible! Everything was there,” said Bad Schallerbach’s Alexander Fröschl, who took the lead from Wallern/St. Marienkirchen equalized before the break. Shortly before the end, the outsider already had one hand on the trophy when Dominik Stadlbauer’s free kick jumped off the post to make it 2-1 (89′) – but substitute Mario Mitter saved Wallern/St. Marienkirchen with the 2: 2 in extra time (92nd).
“A top final,” said Bad Schallerbach’s sporting director Harald Ruckendorfer before the second round started – and his team had the better end thanks to Miliam Guerrib. On the way to triumph, the state league also kicked out Oedt, the leader of the Upper Austrian league. The final victory was the next indication that Bad Schallerbach could be at the top of the Upper Austrian league in the coming season.
The next title should follow on Sunday
The celebrations continued with the handbrake slightly on: the Landesliga West title can be secured on Sunday – against St. Marienkirchen/Wallern 1b, the second team of the Landescup final opponents. Fröschl: “Then we have time to celebrate.”
Bad Schallerbach continued the series of different state cup winners: in the last nine editions there were eight different winners with St. Martin, Edelweiss, Bad Wimsbach, FC Wels, Micheldorf, Verwarts Steyr, Oedt and Bad Schallerbach. Only Oedt won the competition twice during this period.
