“It’s a milestone for the club,” says Managing Director Christoph Peschek, commenting on the new Blau-Weiss-Linz Stadium on the Donaulände, which is gradually taking on its final form.
Around 5,600 spectators will find space in the venue, which is being built on the warehouse of a furniture store. Advance ticket sales are already underway. “We currently have around a thousand subscribers. That is the capacity of our current alternative location”, Peschek is obviously not alone in his anticipation.
With the new venue, the club manager continues, there are new opportunities for the second division team. “We want to grow, and that requires infrastructural conditions.” Nothing stands in the way of an opening in July.
The signs are favorable that the first season in the new arena will be contested in the first Bundesliga. Before the evening match on Friday, the blue and white lead the second division table two points ahead of St. Pölten.
