The longtime Bundesliga manager Jörg Schmadtke is to help coach Jürgen Klopp with the restructuring of the squad at Liverpool FC.
According to information from the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung”, Schmadtke will initially work as a transfer consultant for the Reds for three months in the upcoming changeover period and will be officially presented on Friday.
Liverpool before great upheaval
Schmadtke (59) was the managing director of VfL Wolfsburg for four and a half years. At the end of January he gave up his post and actually retired. Now he is drawn to the traditional English club. The newspaper wrote that a longer cooperation with Liverpool FC could not be ruled out either. At the same time, Liverpool want to intensify the search for a new sports director.
Liverpool and Klopp will miss out on the Champions League this season. This is another reason why the team is facing a major upheaval. Schmadtke should now design it together with Klopp.
