Bundesliga: BVB star Haller: Longing for the bowl is gigantic

After eleven years of abstinence, BVB is on the verge of ending a season as champions again for the first time. Sébastien Haller can’t wait to lift the trophy up into the Dortmund sky.

Attacker Sébastien Haller is already looking forward to Borussia Dortmund’s possible championship party.

“Sometimes I drive my car across Borsigplatz. But I really want to see this square full of people. There are still 90 minutes left, the last step has to follow now!” Said the 28-year-old in an interview with “Sport Bild”: “I can imagine it being unbelievable to experience a master party with the bowl on Borsigplatz.”

“We all want to be part of such a special club moment”

Before the 34th and last matchday of the Bundesliga, BVB leads the table with a two-point lead over FC Bayern Munich. A win at home against FSV Mainz 05 next Saturday would give Dortmund the title.

“We all really want to be part of such a special club moment,” said Haller: “We’ve talked a lot to the people and the fans here in Dortmund, you can feel everywhere how gigantic the longing for the bowl is.”

In order to clinch the title, the team, as the leaders of the standings, must be as nerve-racking as they have been in the past few weeks, Haller demanded. “As second we had this absolute focus on the games, we were very self-confident, strong and dominant,” he said: “We have to keep going.”

After his testicular cancer, he sees himself not yet in top form. “The doctors say it will take about a year before I get rid of all the after-effects of the therapy,” said the former Frankfurter. Personally, he took a lot with him from the suffering: “I’ve learned not to waste my time with negative thoughts, but to focus on the positive ones.”
