With the call of Santiago López, Zielinski defined the Independiente team to face Lanús

Buenos Aires, May 26 (NA) — Independiente’s coach, Ricardo Zielinski, defined the starting team to face Lanús this Saturday in the Libertadores de América-Ricardo Bochini, for the eighteenth round of the 2023 Professional League and will have as a novelty the call for the youthful Santiago López, who shone in the Argentine U-17 team.

The soccer player who stood out in the South American U-17 with the National Team jersey has been training with the professional team since he returned from his vacation after participating in the international competition and will now be called up for the first time.

Although it is category 2006 and still has a long way to go, if he shows in the First Division the virtues that were seen in the youth team, he will be a more than attractive spare part for the “Russian” Zielinski in an Independent that has nothing left over.

In turn, the usual members of the Reserve David Martínez and Rodrigo Atencio will also be cited.

López is a skilled forward who caught the attention of many after his great performance in the South American U-17 tournament, in which he accumulated 9 games and three goals. He is one of the club’s greatest promises to such an extent that he has a contract until December 2024 and an exit clause of 15 million dollars.

For his part, after practice on Friday, Zielinski defined the team that, except for a last-minute problem, will be from the start against those led by Frank Kudelka with the aim of returning to victory after the loss against Arsenal as a visitor.

Kevin López and Baltasar Barcia, who have physical problems, will be on the substitute bench and their absences in the starting team will be replaced by Luciano Gómez and Sergio Ortíz.

In this way, the team to face Lanús will be the following: Rodrigo Rey; Luciano Gomez, Joaquin Laso, Cristian Baez, Ayrton Costa; Nicolás Vallejo, Sergio Ortiz, Martín Sarrafiore, Braian Martínez; Matías Giménez Rojas and Martín Cauteruccio.
