Bundesliga: Dortmund saves point in Bochum – Union first for the time being

Borussia Dortmund only comes to a disappointing draw at VfL Bochum. 1. FC Union Berlin also wins outnumbered in Darmstadt. Heidenheim missed the first Bundesliga point.

Borussia Dortmund suffered a first setback on the second day of the new Bundesliga season. The runners-up had to settle for a 1-1 (0-1) away game at district neighbor VfL Bochum.

1. FC Union Berlin, on the other hand, was again in a goal mood with the 4: 1 (3: 1) at promoted SV Darmstadt 98, with which the iron stormed at least temporarily to the top of the table.

VfL Wolfsburg also has six points from two games after beating 1. FC Köln 2-1 (0-0). Newcomer 1. FC Heidenheim missed the first Bundesliga point in club history despite a 2-0 lead in a 2-3 (1-0) win against TSG Hoffenheim. SC Freiburg won at home against Werder Bremen 1-0 (0-0).

Paint saves BVB point

Kevin Stöger (13th minute) gave the outsider the lead in Bochum’s Ruhrstadion. In the second half, Donyell Malen (56th) equalized for BVB, but Dortmund’s winning goal didn’t come despite a final offensive.

Jan-Niklas Beste not only gave Heidenheim a 1-0 lead with his free kick in the 26th minute, but also scored the first Bundesliga goal in the club’s history. Marvin Pieringer (58th) made it 2-0 in the second round. Maximilian Beier (77′), Pavel Kaderabek (80′) and Andrej Kramaric (90′, penalty kick) still gave TSG victory.

Gosens scores twice

In Darmstadt, national player Robin Gosens made it 1-0 (4th) for Union Berlin in his starting eleven. After the early yellow-red card for Brenden Aaronson from Berlin (21st), the hosts quickly equalized through Marvin Mehlem (24th), but Gosens gave the Irons the lead again with his second goal (34th). Kevin Behrens (39′) with his fourth goal of the season and Danilho Doekhi (65′) made it 4-1.

The Cologne opening goal against Wolfsburg was scored by former VfL professional Luca Waldschmidt (55th). But striker Jonas Wind (62′, 72′) turned the game in favor of the guests with a brace.

The fans had to wait a long time in Freiburg before the returnee Maximilian Philipp (90+6) redeemed the hosts with a last-minute goal.
