Bomb in Argentinos Juniors: Gabriel Milito resigned

“I have just spoken with the leaders and the players. Due to the fatigue that is felt, I decided to make an end to my stage as DT of Argentinos Juniors”highlighted the former Independiente and Barcelona defender, 42 years old.

After three seasons in charge of the La Paternal institution, the technical director decided to step away from the position because “experience in soccer tells me when it is time to close a stage,” he said.

“I feel that it is time for the players to have a different approach; another path that can bring them closer to victory or fight -even- for a title that I think is what they deserve”Milito pointed out, in his post-match statement.

The coach, who also had previous experiences at Independiente and Estudiantes de La Plata, considered that he had been “very happy at the club. Not being from the heart of the entity, the Argentinos (Juniors) fan received me wonderfully and gave me a lot of affection”, he explained.

“I am also very grateful to Cristian Malaspina (president), Alejandro Roncoroni (general secretary) and Raúl Sanzotti (sports director), who came looking for me so that I could be the coach at the time”said Milito, who had a contract valid until December 2027.

“We don’t like to waste time or make others lose it. Today it’s time to turn the page and have another person come along who has the necessary strength to take over the leadership”justified.

The entity from La Paternal began the second semester with the elimination in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, at the hands of Fluminense from Brazil (1-1 and 0-2).

Then, the team beat River Plate (3-2) for the opening date of the Professional League Cup (LPF), although last weekend they fell to Arsenal (2-3) in Sarandí, for the second day of the contest.

And this Wednesday, Argentinos Juniors lost one of the objectives for which they were fighting, being defeated in agony by San Martín de San Juan, who beat them 1-0, at the Julio César Villagra stadium in the Cordovan capital.
