The Argentine Vicente Vergauven today became champion in the K1 marathon category of the Canoeing World Cup that takes place in Lake Jels in the Danish city of Vejen, escorted by his compatriot Joaquín Catalano.

The expectations of a very good performance in the competition by the junior men, Vergauven from Viedma and Catalano from Choel were fulfilled.

In the marathon category, K1, Vergauven completed the test, 21 kilometers in one hour, 34 minutes 54 seconds and 03/100, followed by Catalano, at 1min.64/100 and the Hungarian Arpad.

In the first race of the day, in K2 junior women, Martina Catalano from Choel and Lara Douthat from Paraná developed a good test but finished in eighth place, three minutes behind the winners, the South Africans Georgia Singe and Holly Smith.
