There are two important friendlies coming up for the DFB-Elf. A top performer will be missing.
National soccer player Niclas Füllkrug will be out of the two international friendly matches on Saturday against Japan and Tuesday of next week against France.
The 30-year-old center forward from Borussia Dortmund is still struggling with a thigh injury and will leave the team headquarters in Wolfsburg on Thursday, said national coach Hansi Flick shortly before the start of team training. Flick had already nominated Bayern professional Thomas Müller.
For the game against Vice World Champion France in Dortmund there is a chance that Füllkrug could play. Nevertheless, the team decided to leave. “I’m a bit muscular, nothing dramatic. That’s why I came here,” said Füllkrug beforehand and announced further talks with the team doctor.
Füllkrug made his first appearance as a substitute after switching from Werder Bremen to BVB in a 2-2 draw between Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Heidenheim in the Bundesliga. The striker has scored seven goals in nine international matches so far.
