The documentary series “All or Nothing” about the German national soccer team’s appearance at the World Cup in Qatar is running on Amazon. In the star Director Christian Twente talks about filming and dramaturgical difficulties.
Mr. Twente, your documentary series about the German national team is titled “All or Nothing”. With a view to the World Cup in Qatar, one has to say: “Nothing” would have been a more appropriate title.
We ran through various scenarios: How do we compose the documentary if the team fails in the semi-finals? What do we do if we are eliminated in the quarterfinals? What in the round of 16? It wasn’t in my plans that it would be over after the group phase. That meant a big dramaturgical problem.
