The German women’s national table tennis team has qualified for the knockout rounds at the European Team Championships in Sweden.

Nina Mittelham (TTC Berlin Eastside), Ying Han (KTS Tarnobrzeg) and Sabine Winter (TSV Dachau) made it to the round of 16 in Malmö perfect with a 3-0 win against Austria. The German women had already won their first game against England 3-0.

The European singles and doubles champion Sofia Polcanova was missing from the Austrians. In Malmö, Amelie Solja is the team’s number one. She is the sister of the retired German international Petrissa Solja. She lost to world number ten Ying Han in 1:3 sets.

The knockout games of this team European Championship begin on Thursday. The winners of the tournament will qualify for the team competition at the 2024 Olympic Games. The eight quarter-finalists and four other round of 16 will take part in the Team World Championships in February 2024 in South Korea.
