The 26-year-old Austro-British woman prevailed against the Czech Renata Zachova in the small final with Ippon at the Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi in the up to 63 kg class and won a medal for the first time at this level.
The 25-year-old Borchashvili (up to 81 kg) also won the bronze fight against the Portuguese Joao Fernando with Ippon. Magdalena Krssakova (up to 63 kg) and Olympic bronze medalist Michaela Polleres (up to 70 kg) each finished seventh.
