According to an ÖFB broadcast on Thursday, the new feature makes it easier, more automated and quicker to make the offside decision, while at the same time making it more transparent and understandable for viewers. The new function is intended to support and accelerate VAR decision-making, especially in extremely tight offside situations.
Based on the lines drawn, it automatically recognizes whether it is offside or not – and displays this information in a graphic as soon as the lines are finally confirmed.
