Max Verstappen is also the measure of all things in Mexico. The triple champion left the competition behind in both Formula 1 training sessions.

Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen secured the fastest time of the day in training for the Mexican Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver was 0.119 seconds faster than McLaren driver Lando Norris. Third in Mexico City was Charles Leclerc in a Ferrari.

Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Pérez had to settle for fifth place behind Valtteri Bottas in the Alfa Romeo. The Mexican wants to finally end his months of poor form at his home game. Verstappen was faster than the competition in both the first and second training sessions on Friday and will start again tomorrow as the favorite in the 19th race of the season (9 p.m./Sky).

Hulkenberg 15.

Nico Hülkenberg still has to improve before his 200th Grand Prix in order to have any hopes of scoring World Championship points at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The Haas driver ended the training day in 15th place. On Sunday, the 36-year-old became the fourth German racing driver to reach the mark of 200 Formula 1 race starts.

The World Cup has already been decided since the beginning of the month. Verstappen already secured his third title in a row in Qatar. With another victory in Mexico, the 26-year-old would surpass his win record from the previous year and would have already won 16 World Championship races this season.
