Córdoba Centralfrom Santiago del Estero beat him tonight by 2 to 0 Unionfrom Santa Fe, closing date 11 of zone B of the Professional League Cup at the Estadio Único – Madres de Ciudades and entered the group of qualifiers for the quarterfinals.
The goals for the victory of “Ferroviario” were scored by Lucas Gamba, former Unión, at 31 minutes of the first stage, and Mateo Sanabria at 21 minutes of the complement.
From the beginning of the match Unión was the protagonist of the match, it had more possession of the ball and generated more scoring chances.
But for much of that first half, it was a flat game with little excitement.
Central Córdoba had a lackluster image in the first 45 minutes but struck quickly and at 31 took the lead in an isolated play.
The midfielder Mauro Pittón, from his own field, sent a long ball into the void, which, after a good unmarking, Lucas Gamba took and was one-on-one with the “Tatengue” goalkeeper Sebastián Moyano. The “Ferroviario” forward defined calmly and made it 1-0 for his team, applying the law of the former against the team in which he knew how to play between 2014 and 2018 and where he achieved promotion to the First Division in 2014.
Already in the complement, at 21 minutes Central Córdoba extended the lead on the scoreboard against a Unión that was lost on the field and defended, almost throughout the match, very poorly.
Gamba put in a low cross for Mateo Sanabria – who entered for the second half – and he entered the area alone and scored Moyano’s far post to make it 2-0.
Unión tried to go in search of the discount, but it hardly created any danger to Matías Mansilla’s goal and Central Córdoba was a fair winner of the match.
With this victory, “Ferroviario” reached third place with 18 points and entered the qualification zone for the Playoffs zone.
For its part, Unión, after the defeat, was left in the tiebreaker zone for relegation to the Primera Nacional in the general table along with Huracán, Colón and Sarmiento (J) with 42 points.
On the next date, Central Córdoba will visit Racing at the Cilindro de Avellaneda, while Unión will receive Lanús at the 15 de Abril Stadium in Santa Fe.
