Tennis: Struff draws a satisfied conclusion to the season: “Top 30 is a dream”

Jan-Lennard Struff has had an emotional roller coaster ride. At the end of the tennis year he is in another semi-final – and is already looking forward to next season.

Despite missing the final at the ATP tournament in Sofia, Jan-Lennard Struff drew a satisfied conclusion to the season.

“I’m 33 years old and finishing the year in the top 30. That’s of course a dream for me,” said Struff, who started the tennis year in position 155. “You’re in ranking regions where you have to play a lot of Challengers. It’s not easy, it’s really hard work. I wouldn’t have dared to dream that it would turn out like this,” said the German number two after her last tournament this year.

Highlights for Struff in 2023 were the finals at the Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid and the lawn tournament in Stuttgart. He was then slowed down by an injury that put him out of action for a few months. Among other things, he was unable to compete at Wimbledon and the US Open.

“But it’s nonsense to philosophize about what could have happened if I hadn’t injured myself,” said the Warsteiner. “Now it’s about unwinding a bit with the family and then working hard again in preparation. I’m looking forward to next year and attacking again.”
