11th matchday: Kane scores again several times: Bayern celebrate as leaders

Harry Kane continues to delight FC Bayern. In the 4-2 win against Heidenheim, he increased his yield to a number that no one achieved in the previous season. A comeback man also ensures the victory.

Led by goal machine Harry Kane, FC Bayern Munich has stormed to the top of the Bundesliga table, at least for the time being.

In the 4:2 (2:0) win against promoted team 1. FC Heidenheim, England’s national team captain Kane increased his season tally to 17 league goals with a brace in what was at times a wild game. He would have been top scorer in the previous season.

The 30-year-old impressively ensured the reassuring 2-0 half-time lead (14th/44th minute). After the break, Heidenheim showed a lot of heart and fought their way back into the game brilliantly against sloppy Bayern thanks to Tim Kleindienst (67′) and Jan-Niklas Beste (70′). Substitute Raphael Guerreiro let Bayern celebrate their approaching victory eleven minutes after his substitution (72′). Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who also came as a joker, then made everything clear (85th).

The Munich team are the frontrunners for their annual general meeting on Sunday, where Kane cannot celebrate because of the international trip. Bayer Leverkusen can push FC Bayern out of first place in the table on Sunday with a win against 1. FC Union Berlin.

After hat-tricks against Darmstadt and in Dortmund as well as two goals in the early secured group win in the Champions League against Galatasaray Istanbul, Kane also struck several times against the newcomers, who were strong in duels. 75,000 spectators in the arena were once again able to see for themselves the formidable interaction between Kane and Leroy Sané.

After the German international’s preparatory work on the right wing, Kane hit three defenders with a perfect shot from the turn. The Heidenheim defense made it 2-0 easy for him. Following a Sané corner, Kane headed in completely freely. The Munich team spent around 100 million euros on the most expensive purchase in their club’s history in the summer. How worthwhile this investment was for FC Bayern could also be seen in the beaming of Honorary President Uli Hoeneß, who applauded profusely.

Starting eleven debut for Bayern’s Pavlovic

In what was only the second competitive game between the two very different teams, there were again plenty of goals, although not as much as Munich’s 5-4 defeat in the cup four and a half years ago. Coach Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern ensemble, who promoted Thomas Müller and Serge Gnabry to the starting line-up for the first time since September and 19-year-old Aleksandar Pavlovic to his starting eleven debut, had the game firmly under control for a long time. After the break, the Munich team became careless.

Ultimately, Tuchel was able to breathe a sigh of relief that his rotation with five changes after the Galatasaray win did not fail. Guerreiro’s goal in the comeback particularly pleased his teammates. The 29-year-old Portuguese is back after a torn muscle fiber in his left thigh. Because of this and because of a torn muscle in the summer, the former Dortmund player had only played twice for Munich so far.
