Ski racer Lena Dürr also raced onto the podium in the second slalom in Levi. One day after her second place, the 32-year-old came third at the World Cup in Finland.
The athlete from SV Germering benefited from the fact that the previous day’s winner, Petra Vlhova from Slovakia, who was in the lead after the first run, took over in the second round and was eliminated. Nevertheless, Dürr confirmed their strong form over the past two years and raised hopes for another successful season.
The victory in Levi on Sunday was secured by US rider Mikaela Shiffrin. For the 28-year-old, it was the 89th World Cup success of her career. Croatian Leona Popovic came second. Dürr’s teammate Emma Aicher finished 23rd.
“A perfect start”
It was a “perfect start to the new season,” Dürr told BR television after her tenth podium finish in a World Cup race. She is “super happy” with the weekend. The third-place finisher in the World Championships had already managed well in Levi in recent years. The next slalom is scheduled for the end of November in Killington in the USA.
