In the first derby in the new Hofmann Personal Stadium, the home team celebrated with their fans: outsiders Blau-Weiß Linz defeated LASK 2-0.

Although LASK had more possession from kick-off, they found no gaps in the well-organized blue and white defense. Only the home team were dangerous; LASK goalkeeper Tobias Lawal had a lot more to do than in previous games. In the 29th minute he was no longer able to intervene to save the game: After a throw-in from Simon Seidl was blocked, Alexander Briedl played the ball into the penalty area, Ronivaldo was quicker to act than the LASK defenders and finished with his left – 1-0.

Strong defense

LASK coach Thomas Sageder made a change: Moses Usor started in the playmaker position as a replacement for the suspended Robert Zulj, after conceding a goal the athletes started in a 4-3-3 formation – Maksym Talowjerow moved from the three-man defense chain into midfield, Usor went back to his usual position Wing position in attack.

Nothing changed in the game: the concentrated blue-white defense offered no gaps against a LASK that lacked pace and ideas. In the final phase, the athletes temporarily besieged the penalty area of Blau-Weiß Linz, but the home team did not allow a great chance to equalize – and secured the derby victory with a 2-0 score (82nd). The counterattack went through Paul Mensah, who brought Stefan Urlaub into the game, and the striker, who came on for Ronivaldo, hit the right corner from the edge of the penalty area.

He chose the perfect time for his first Bundesliga goal: the derby finally became a holiday for Blau-Weiß Linz.
