After FC Blau-Weiß Linz’s sensational 2-0 derby win against LASK, coach Gerald Scheiblehner announced an unconventional reward for his Bundesliga team – and redeemed it today: As a culinary thank you for the remarkable success over their city rivals, the 46th -year-old gave his derby winners a real treat after today’s morning training: meat loaf for the entire support team and all the kickers.

Shortly after the derby final whistle, goalscorer Stefan Urlaub revealed to the OÖN: “Our coach joked that if we win the derby, then we’ll eat a little more meatloaf this week and he’ll pay us a round. I hope he keeps it one too. But we shouldn’t eat it too often because we still have a lot to do.” After such a success and during the quieter international break, the blue and white footballers definitely deserve a heartier meal.

Players take over training

Scheiblehner also promised his team that if they were successful against LASK, they would be able to choose the training content for that week: “Since we won, the team can choose the training content from Tuesday to Thursday. The team council has to tell me submit your wishes up to an hour before the start of training. I assume that the intensity will be limited and that football tennis will play a big role. But the boys deserve that,” said Scheiblehner shortly after the derby victory.

He assessed his team well: in today’s morning session, the blue and white footballers also cut a good figure in football tennis, as a video shows.
