This is how Shiffrin feels after her serious fall in Cortina

This is what the outgoing US alpine director Patrick Riml said on ORF television on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Kronplatz giant slalom. The Tyrolean explained that the ski star was diagnosed with an overstretched inner ligament in his knee. “Mikaela is doing relatively well, considering the circumstances. Nothing major has happened, no broken bones, no torn ligaments.”

Shiffrin posted current pictures on her Instagram channel with her partner Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who was also injured: “I really can’t complain about the last few days”

In November 2023, Shiffrin suffered a bone bruise in his left knee in a training fall. Now the same knee is affected, “everything has developed a bit negatively again,” said Riml. The 28-year-old is being cared for in the Huber and Mair sports therapy practice in Innsbruck, where ÖSV ace Marco Schwarz is also being treated after his knee operation. Shiffrin is “in very good hands there.”

Comeback in Soldeu?

Their comeback could come at the earliest at the technical races in Soldeu on February 10th and 11th. At the moment, however, we have to look “from day to day” and cannot make any concrete plans. “Often you take one step forward and two steps back,” Riml said. “We have to be patient, let’s put it that way.”
