He Ultras Paris Collective (CUP) indicated on Friday that the Parc des Princes “is Paris SG”the day after the president of PSG Nasser Al Khelaifi claimed to want to leave the stadium, given the refusal of the Paris city council to sell the venue.
“Our position: PSG is the Parc des Princes and the Parc des Princes is PSG,” CUP declared in a statement. “We do not plan to be the generation of fans who will have seen their club leave its usual haunt,” he added.
On Thursday on the sidelines of the UEFA Congress, The Qatari leader told reporters: “It is very easy to say now that the stadium is not for sale. We know we want it, we have wasted years wanting to buy the Park. But now it’s over, we want to leave.”
“The president was clear. A solution must be found but the message is very clear,” said Parisian coach Luis Enrique on Friday at a press conference when asked about it.
The Parisian club, committed until the end of 2043 in a thirty-year lease with the city council, the owner, considers the acquisition of the stadium essential to carry out its expansion project to 60,000 seats, compared to the current 48,000.
For months the situation has not stopped becoming tense, as the Paris city council repeats that it does not want to sell the Park.
A position reaffirmed by the city council itself on Tuesday, when it requested that the modernization of the sports venue “be carried out in the context of a plan satisfactory to all parties but that does not imply its transfer”, a year after Mayor Anne Hidalgo closed the door for sale.
“We understand that after having flirted for a long time with a sale, the city council, for political reasons, has changed its mind. But we will not accept that our club and our stadium are sacrificed so that Mrs. Hidalgo maintains her power over the Paris city council “, launched the CUP in the statement.
