Decathlete Leo Neugebauer got off to a good start in the Olympic year. The fifth-place finisher at the World Championships leads the field with 4,620 points at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in his adopted hometown of Austin after the first day of the decathlon.
This means he is doing better than his German record last year. At that time, Neugebauer had improved decathlon legend Jürgen Hingsen’s old mark to 8,836 points.
Neugebauer is just behind his World Cup half-time result in the competition in the USA before the decision on the German night of Good Friday. At the title fights in Budapest last year, he led the field after the first day with 4,640 points. The athlete, who started for VfB Stuttgart, fell back to fifth place on the second day.
Neugebauer breaks German record
