Golf: Woods breaks Masters record: 24 cuts in a row

Next Masters record for Tiger Woods: For the 24th time in a row, the superstar makes the cut at Augusta National Golf Club. A German debutant, on the other hand, fails prematurely.

Superstar Tiger Woods has made golf history again. For the 24th time in a row, the now 48-year-old Californian made the cut at the Masters and set a record.

Since his first Masters victory in 1997, Woods has always qualified for the two decisive rounds on the weekend in his starts at Augusta National Golf Club. The 15-time major champion trumped South Africa’s golf legend Gary Player and US idol Fred Couples, who each made the cut at the Masters 23 times in a row.

Woods finished his second round with 72 shots and entered the weekend with a total of 145 shots. The five-time Masters winner is tied for 22nd place after the second day and is seven strokes behind the top trio from the USA Max Homa, Bryson DeChambeau and world number one Scottie Scheffler (all 138 strokes).

The German Masters debutant Stephan Jäger, however, missed the two decisive rounds at the weekend. The 34-year-old from Munich, who has lived in the USA for a long time, clearly failed to make the cut after rounds of 74 and 80 strokes and was eliminated early.
