The Felt-Felbermayr-Wels professional won the 158-kilometer section from Karditsa to Karpenisi, 34 seconds ahead of his teammate Hermann Pernsteiner. The Italian Valerio Conti came third, just 1:22 minutes behind.

For the Goldwörther, this victory was a balm for his recently tormented soul. “My last win was two years ago. I’m really happy with how it went,” he said.
