In the second game of the semi-final against Chemnitz, Alba was already under pressure. But the Berliners kept their nerve.
Alba Berlin has equalized the playoff semi-final series against the Niners Chemnitz in the Basketball Bundesliga. After the Albatrosses lost their first home game at the start of the semi-finals, they won the second game at home clearly with 86:64 (48:40).
The Berlin defense held Chemnitz to 24 points after the break and a total of 64 points – in no other BBL game this season have the Saxons scored fewer points. The best-of-five series now moves to Chemnitz, where the third game is scheduled for Sunday. The team that wins three times first moves to the final in.
The Albatrosses immediately found their rhythm of shooting from outside, worked harder on the boards than in the first game and were leading by double figures after just five minutes (14:4). Thanks to better defense, the Chemnitz team initially came back in the second period, but thanks to their better three-point percentage, the Berlin team were ahead 48:40 at halftime.
In the third period, the Berliners forced Chemnitz to lose some of the ball, and the hosts ended the third period with a 16:5 run, pulling ahead to 69:52. In the final period, Alba did not let the guests get any closer than twelve points. Louis Olinde (13 points, five rebounds) and Martin Hermannsson (11 points, six assists) were the best Berlin players.
