Cycling: Tour of Slovenia: Bauhaus celebrates second victory of the season

The Tour de France begins at the end of June. Phil Bauhaus wants to shine there. The sprinter is getting into shape in Slovenia.

Shortly before the Tour de France, Phil Bauhaus is showing signs of improving form with a stage win at the Tour of Slovenia. Germany’s best sprinter won the second stage to Rogaska Slatina ahead of the Italian Alberto Dainese and the Slovenian Luka Mezgec. Jonas Koch from the Bora-hansgrohe team sprinted to fourth place. Bauhaus also took the lead in the overall standings.

For Bauhaus, who will be riding for his team Bahrain-Victorious in the Tour starting in Florence on June 29, it was the second victory this year. In March, the 29-year-old won the third stage of the long-distance Tirreno-Adriatico.

Bauhaus is hoping for a stage win in the Tour. Last year he rode the Tour de France for the first time and took a second and two third places before he had to give up exhausted on the queen stage to Courchevel four days before the end of the Tour.
