During the European Championship group match between Austria and Poland (3:1) on Friday in Berlin, a Polish football fan was seriously injured after falling from the stands. As a spokesman for the Berlin fire brigade confirmed to the German Press Agency, a man from the lower tier fell from a height of three metres into the trench of the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

The person sustained several injuries, was briefly unconscious and was taken to hospital, it was said. How the fall occurred was initially unclear. According to the Berlin police, however, there is no evidence of third-party negligence.
