Euro 2024: how much money do referees earn
Assistants and Fourth Referees: They received 2,500 euros per match in the group stage and 5,000 euros from the round of 16 onwards.
VAR referees: They will win 3,000 euros for the group stage matches and 5,000 euros for the knockout stage matches.
Why Argentine Facundo Tello directs at Euro 2024
Despite being an Argentine referee, Tello and his fellow assistants (Ezequiel Brailovsky and Gabriel Chade) were appointed to referee at Euro 2024 thanks to a agreement between CONMEBOL and UEFAdating back to February 2020. This agreement allows for an “exchange of experiences between referees from both continents.”
Enrique Cáceres, President of the CONMEBOL Referees Commission, highlighted the value of this exchange, stating that “it is valuable for referees because it allows them to live new experiences, providing more knowledge and better preparing them to officiate in all competitions.”
The referees for the following matches have not yet been appointed, so it is not known if Facundo Tello will continue to have a role in another match.
