It’s a statement, The French Rugby Federation (FFR) “strongly condemns” the comments made by Melvyn Jaminet, which it considers “totally unacceptable and contrary to the fundamental values of our sport.”
For this reason, the player was “excluded with immediate effect and is no longer in the squad for the French group currently present in Argentina.”
The 25-year-old rugby player apologized in a video and said he felt “ashamed” of his words.
“I understand that I may have offended many people. These words do not in any way reflect my values or those of the French rugby team,” he said. “Racism is unacceptable.”
Jaminet came into play on Saturday during the second half in the match that the XV of France won against Argentina, by 28 to 13 in Mendoza.
After that match, France will face Uruguay on Wednesday in Montevideo and then on Saturday 13 July they will visit Argentina again, this time in Buenos Aires.
