“In addition to the provisions set forth in said contract, CONMEBOL recommended to these authorities the procedures tested in events of this magnitude, which were NOT taken into account.“, he added without giving further details.
Some fans said they had paid thousands of dollars for tickets and were unable to enter the stadium, while the families of several Argentine players said they were caught up in the chaos.

A spokesman for the Hard Rock Stadium said in a statement Sunday that security closed the gates to control the entry process at a slower pace and ensure the safety of all the public present.
