The Olympic Village of Paris 2024 officially opened its doors, welcoming athletes from around the world prepared for the event and the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bachvisited the place on its opening day.

About 10,500 athletesof 206 National Olympic Committees and of the Refugee Olympic Teamwill compete in the next Olympic Gameswhich will begin on July 26. Most of the athletes will be staying at the Olympic Village in Paris, a complex of 54 hectares located next to the River Seine.

In addition, athletes will be accommodated in the satellite villages of Chateauroux (shot), Lille (basketball and handball preliminaries), Marseilles (candle) and Tahiti (surf).
Accompanied by Tony Estanguetpresident of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Gamesin addition to Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujantpresident of the Paris 2024 Coordination Commission, Bach welcomed the athletes upon their arrival at the village.

The Olympic Village It will host athletes during the Games and will have a 3,200-seat dining hall, a 24-hour gym, a 3,500-square-metre polyclinic and a small supermarket.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11 and the Paralympic Games will take place from August 28 to September 8.
