Bill Kaulitz: Schumacher’s coming out “moved me very much”

Bill Kaulitz admires Ralf Schumacher for his coming out. In his podcast, he explains why the step was so brave.

Bill Kaulitz (34) has commented on Ralf Schumacher’s (49) coming out. In it, he explains to his twin brother and co-podcaster Tom Kaulitz (34) how important it is to him to talk again about the moving Instagram post of the former Formula 1 racing driver and his partner. Because the topic moved Bill “very, very, very much”.

Bill Kaulitz thinks Schumacher’s coming out is “really nice”

Bill finds it “really nice” that Schumacher has now publicly admitted to being gay. The singer also struggled with hiding his sexuality for a long time, as was recently made clear in the successful Netflix documentary series about the twin brothers, “Kaulitz & Kaulitz”.

The Tokio Hotel frontman also explains why Schumacher’s coming out is so special in his view. “He comes from a very male-dominated, masculine sport, where this is actually a taboo subject and there aren’t many people who are out,” says Bill. “It’s a very masculine, sometimes toxic masculine world, where it’s just not okay to come out.” This makes it all the more courageous of Schumacher to have taken this step.

Ralf Schumacher’s Instagram post “was beautifully done”

“It takes a lot of courage, especially when you’re at a certain age and have a very public life behind you, with another partner and child,” adds Bill. He also thinks the way Ralf Schumacher handled his coming out was positive: He focused on his partner, his relationship and his happiness in love without justifying himself: “It was beautifully done, it was a great post and I was really happy,” the singer sums up.
