Five days after being displaced from the podium, the Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu recovered the Bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, thanks to a failure of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which overturned the review in favor of the American Jordan Chiles.
Barbosu She had secured third place in the floor final with a score of 13.700, second only to the Brazilian Rebecca Andrade (14,166) and the American Simone Biles (14,133).
However, an appeal by Chilieswho had originally scored 13.666, had her score revised to 13.766, which displaced the Romanian from the podium.
The Romanian team filed an appeal with the TASarguing that the claim of Chilies had been submitted outside the time allowed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).

The court ruled in favor of Barbosureinstating his bronze medal and relegating Chilies to fifth place.
This decision of the CAS returned the medal to Barbosu and allowed the gymnast to celebrate her Olympic achievement, albeit several days late and after an emotionally complicated situation.
What does the International Gymnastics Federation’s regulations say?
The regulations of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) stipulates that it must be done in a maximum of one minute, as recalled by the TASto which Barbosu had appealed.
For this reason, the highest sports jurisdiction decided to recover the American’s initial score (13.666), which places her below the one obtained by Ana Barbosu (13,700).
The claim of the Romanian too Sabrina Voinea (which received the same grade, but with a worse execution grade) was, however, rejected. Shortly after the FIG announced that he was giving the bronze medal to Ana Barbosu.
“It’s a feeling I can hardly express, I can’t believe it”the Romanian gymnast had reacted, quoted by the media of her country.
“When I heard the news I was afraid it wasn’t true, and as soon as I was sure, I hugged my parents and called those who had helped me,” the Brazilian gymnast added. Rebecca Andrade conquered the gold on August 5, finishing ahead of the American star Simone Biles.
The podium of this event, which closed artistic gymnastics in Paris-2024, left one of the iconic photos of these Games when Biles and Chiles They bowed to a triumphant Andrade as she climbed to the highest step.
