BVB is closing the gap in attack with another international player: young professional Beier comes from Hoffenheim and receives a five-year contract. This means further changes are on the horizon.
Maximilian Beier will be Niclas Füllkrug’s successor at Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga club invested the almost 30 million euros transfer fee for the centre-forward, who moved to West Ham United, in the signing of young international player Beier. The 21-year-old European Championship participant from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim signed a contract until June 30, 2029 after completing his medical check in Dortmund, as both clubs announced. Beier still had a contract in Hoffenheim until summer 2027.
“Maxi was our absolute dream player after the departure of Niclas Füllkrug. Despite his young age, he is already very composed on the pitch and impresses with his speed, his willingness to run and his goal threat. He can also be used in various positions and in different systems,” said BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl.
Beier is to fill the gap left by Füllkrug in the attack at the Champions League finalists. The new signing is also ten years younger than his predecessor. “In the talks with Borussia Dortmund, I sensed from the first minute how much they wanted me and I immediately had a great feeling. The club’s goals and mine are the same: We want to win titles. I will give everything for that,” said Beier, who was born in Brandenburg and has scored 16 goals in 42 Bundesliga games so far and could make his debut on Saturday in the DFB Cup against Phönix Lübeck (6 p.m.).
BVB’s fifth new signing
Beier is Dortmund’s fifth new signing after Waldemar Anton, Serhou Guirassy (both VfB Stuttgart), Pascal Groß (Brighton & Hove Albion) and Yan Couto (Manchester City). “We have now been able to sign all five of our target players for this transfer period – including three professionals who are part of the German national team squad. Several top European clubs fought for Maximilian. We are very happy that we were able to quickly convince him to join Borussia Dortmund,” said BVB managing director Lars Ricken.

Beier’s agreement makes the departure of striker Youssoufa Moukoko more likely. His agent Patrick Williams complained publicly a few days ago about the 19-year-old striker’s lack of playing time. French clubs OSC Lille and Olympique Marseille are said to be interested. BVB talent Paris Brunner is also set to move to the French league. The 18-year-old is being courted by AS Monaco.
