Facundo Chapur (Dodge) took the classification of the 10th date of the Road Tourism at the legendary Oscar and Juan Gálvez racetrack in Buenos Airesachieving his first pole position in the category.
The A&P Competición driver achieved the best time at the end of the last round of the Regular Stage, snatching first place from Augustin Canapino (Chevrolet) for just 0s070.
Augustin Martinez (Toyota NG) completed the top trio, showing great performance with the new Toyota Camry, which debuted on the track this Saturday.
With this feat, Chapur also broke the historic speed record on a racetrack.
Meanwhile, Canapino, who returned after several races of absence following his disassociation from IndyCarcame in second place.
The Arrecife native seemed to have pole position secured until Chapur surprised with a perfect lap at the last moment.
Attention was also focused on the drivers fighting to win the Regular Stage and those seeking the last 7 places to enter the Gold Cup.
The championship leader, Jose Manuel Urcera (Ford Mustang), had a difficult qualifying session, finishing 40th due to using a spare engine after the main engine broke during testing.
In the fight to lead the phase, Julian Santero (Ford Mustang) was the best positioned, finishing in 6th place and getting closer to Urcera, from whom he is only 11 points away.
Other drivers with mathematical chances, such as Diego Ciantini (Chevrolet Camaro) and Mauricio Lambiris (Ford Mustang), finished 9th and 24th respectively, while Mariano Werner (Ford Mustang) finished in 27th place.
