In a flurry of goals, Boca turned it around and defeated San Lorenzo

The forwards Andres Vombergar and Ivan Leguizamon scored for Boedo, while the goals for “Xeneize” were scored by the defender Marcelo Saracchi and the forwards Milton Gimenez and Miguel Merentiel.

The match, which was played at the Alberto J. Armando stadium, better known as La Bombonera, had started very complicated for Boca, who despite dominating the development of the game found themselves at a disadvantage after 20 minutes of the first half due to a penalty by Vombergar, after referee Pablo Echavarría awarded the maximum penalty after a handball by defender Marcos Rojo.

Boca ended the first half very disconcerted and having to settle for being only one goal behind.

In the second half, the substitutions of full-back Luis Advíncula, midfielder Cristian Medina and forward Miguel Merentiel completely changed Boca’s image, which quickly began to dominate the match.

That’s how Boca turned things around in a lethal burst. First through Giménez five minutes into the second half, who finished with a very good pirouette in the “Ciclón”‘s small area, and just four minutes later, when the Uruguayan Saracchi overflowed and shot at the first post of the goal defended by Facundo Altamirano, who could do nothing to prevent his rivals’ goal.

Boca sealed the match with a goal in full time from another Uruguayan, Merentiel, who scored very well after being one-on-one with Altamirano, and San Lorenzo could have reduced the deficit in the last minute again from a penalty, but with Leguizamón as the executor on this occasion.

With this victory, Boca reached 17 points and is four behind leader Vélez, although Hucarán still has to play, which could reach 23 points.

Their next match will be on Thursday, in the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana round of 16.

San Lorenzo, for its part, has fallen even further in the standings, where it is in twenty-sixth place with only 7 points.

The next match for Leandro Romagnoli’s team will be on Tuesday, when they visit Atlético Mineiro in Brazil for the second leg of the Copa Libertadores round of 16.
