The Union for the Homeland interbloc considered that the Vice President “attempted to give a partial and biased view of local history and failed to condemn the state terrorism that was established in Argentina starting on March 24, 1976.”

After the Vice President’s event Victoria Villarruel within the framework of International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Terrorismwhere he emphasized his commitment to “complete memory” and pointed out that “all the Montoneros must be imprisoned,” the interblock of senators of Union for the Homeland expressed his “repudiation of the provocative attitude” of the head of the Upper House. “The Senate is not a place for genocides”they launched.

Through a statement released on their social networks, the senators considered that Villarruel “tried to pressure the Justice to reopen cases that have already been tried and prescribed.” During her speech, the president announced “the Reopening of all cases of victims of terrorism so that Justice can do what it should have done more than 20 years ago.”

However, the UP bloc considered that its intervention in the act “intended to give a partial view and biased from local history and failed to condemn the state terrorism that took hold in Argentina on March 24, 1976.”

“The event organized by Villarruel was a provocation, where he mixed terrorist acts that occurred in the country, such as the attacks on the Israeli Embassy and the headquarters of the Jewish mutual aid organization AMIAand abroad, such as the attack on the Twin Towers in New Yorkand then proposed the reopening of judicial cases already prescribed and judged, in a clear attempt at denialism and vindication of the coup d’état that gave rise to the last civil-military dictatorship”.

Finally, through the text, the senators assured that the head of the body “claimed genocide and state terrorism through omission. But she also raised an issue that was already resolved decades ago with the trial of the Juntas and with the policies of memory, truth and justice.”

Victoria Villarruel announced “the “Reopening of all cases of victims of terrorism”

The vice president closed the ceremony with a speech in which she acknowledged: “I made a commitment to complete memory when I was 28 years old. […] This has been the most important fight of my life”. He then promised to continue the process: “This is an immense achievement that is another part of the long road towards justice, truth and reparation.”

His most important announcement was “the Reopening of all cases of victims of terrorism so that Justice can do what it should have done more than 20 years ago.” “So that Argentina can experience its dawn and its rebirth All the Montoneros must be in prison “We are answering for bloodying our nation,” he concluded, without specifying how the Executive would reopen cases that -not being crimes against humanity- would have expired.

Furthermore, Villarruel recalled the difficulties he had to raise this flag since 2003: “It was frankly dangerous to denounce the crimes of the protected by Néstor and Cristina Kirchner. We were little Davids facing the Goliaths who had all the state power to guarantee themselves impunity, rewrite our history and enrich their pockets with the pain of all Argentines.” After finishing his speech, he remained in the hall greeting those present.
