Why International Translation Day is commemorated every September 30

The anniversary arose during the year 1991, when the International Federation of Translation (FIT) It chose this date with the aim of showing solidarity among its members and highlighting the enormous value that this profession achieved in an increasingly interconnected and globalized world.

The main reason for choosing the date of September 30 was the commemoration of the death of Jerome of Estridon, Popularly known as Saint Jerome, patron saint of translators and responsible for the translation of the Bible from Hebrew to Latin and Greek.
