The measure was made public one day after the sentencing of seven members of the “Lafken Winkul Mapu” community, who in November 2017 had usurped seven hectares belonging to National Parks. “We definitively annul the transfer made by the previous government and encourage the security forces to evict those lands from their usurpers“, explained the person in charge of the Justice portfolio.

The Minister of Justice of the Nation confirmed the decision through a message published on his personal account on the social network X. There, Cúneo Libarona was blunt and detailed: “Argentina does not negotiate with terrorists.”
“For 6 years, groups calling themselves Mapuche have usurped and attacked the heritage of Argentines, ignoring the law and authority. The previous government’s solution was to give them land,” added the official who then concluded: “That’s over, we canceled that agreement“.
During the previous National administration, the former Secretary of Human Rights of the Nation, Horacio Pietragalla Corti, interceded before the judge Hugo Greca to stop the judicial process that National Parks had initiated in response to the seizure of the land. The proposal of Fernández’s management was to create a dialogue table between the Government and the Mapuche groups to reach an agreement, which provided for the transfer of the lands.

For its part, Yessica Fernanda Bonnefoi She received a sentence of two years and two months in prison, convicted as co-author of the crime of usurpation. Finally, Joana Micaela Colhuan and Gonzalo Fabián Cona They were sentenced to two years and six months in suspended prison.
