The death occurred after being hospitalized for several days in the Otamendi Sanatoriumdue to various health problems that he was going through.

Méndez, born on March 9, 1940, forged his business path through Conarsaa company specialized in plastic garbage containers, trays and drawers that were used for loads and deposits. As a result of this, he assumed ownership of the CAIP and He remained in office for 16 years (1994 – 2010).
His periods at the head of the UIA
In the middle of that title, He came to the head of the UIA in 2004within the framework of a difficult situation, since there was a division between businessmen, with the industrial group -Techint- and the light blue and white list -food-. He finished his term in 2007, but then returned for two terms: 2009 and 2011; and 2013 and 2015.
There is a remembered intersection between the businessman and Cristina Kirchnerwithin the framework of a UIA Conference held in 2014: ”I am going to make a somewhat nostalgic personal comment: we are leaving together. This task with which you have honored me coincided with your two presidencies and that of Néstor Kirchner, I have never had a boss other than you.”
”But I survived, here I am. I have the asset of permanent work left, marked by dialogue, both in consensus and dissent,” he concluded.
Another recent precedent occurred in 2022, when the businessman had a trial for improperly withholding some $12.7 million corresponding to Social Security contributions of his employees, in the San Juan company Delphi, he avoided going to trial since they assured that had a deteriorated mental state. Besides, ”his attention is incorrect, unstable”which indicates that his cognitive functions present a ”moderate to severe global limitation,” the medical report detailed.
