Legendary trainer Jürgen Klopp has a new job. He joins Red Bull – but not as a coach, as one might initially assume.
Jürgen Klopp will become Red Bull’s global head of football as Head of Global Soccer, the company announced. “Sky” and “Bild” had previously reported. According to reports, Klopp’s new job starts in January 2025. The successful coach has been on a break since May after his self-imposed end at Liverpool FC.
In the summer, the 57-year-old announced that he would be taking a longer break from football. “No club, no country for next year,” quotes “Bild”. However, he also emphasized that he considered himself too young to retire.
Jürgen Klopp: From coach to manager
The new position that is now being discussed is not a coaching job, but would mean a move into strategic management. According to the reports, Klopp will be responsible for the international network of Red Bull football clubs at Red Bull, which includes RB Leipzig. The deal was bagged by Oliver Mintzlaff, currently “CEO Corporate Projects and Investments” responsible for all global sports activities at Red Bull.
Farewell to England
The folk hero of Liverpool: Jürgen Klopp says goodbye to the Premier League
Klopp resigned as Liverpool FC coach in May after nine years. At Anfield Road he won, among other things, the Champions League and the English championship and became a fan favorite. He previously coached Borussia Dortmund from 2008 to 2015, winning the German championship twice and the DFB Cup once with BVB. He was also active as a player and coach at FSV Mainz for many years.
