The President of the Nation will once again star in a ceremony with the leadership of La Libertad Avanza and his Cabinet.

Starting at 7 p.m. this Saturday, Javier Milei will lead an event to present the new Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Freedom Palace Cultural Center, which represents a change of identity of the Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK)inaugurated in 2012 after a remodeling of the old Post Office building at the initiative of former president Néstor Kirchner.

The Government had already anticipated the decision but the name change was finally made official through the Decree of Necessity and Urgency 897/2024, arguing that “this type of decisions They represent the depth of change to materialize the values, beliefs, convictions, objectives, ideals and ethics that should guide government action.“.

The chosen date represents the 150th anniversary of the end of his own presidency. Domingo Faustino Sarmientowho will be honored at this Saturday’s ceremony by the National Adult Choir, which will perform the anthem that commemorates him. Although the speech of Javier Milei will be the only one of the night, we wait for the presence of the entire national cabinet together with leaders of Freedom Advances and other special guests. The history of CCK

The building was built on behalf of Ramón J. Cárcano, national director of the Post Office in 1890according to a project by the French Norbert Maillartwho was summoned within the framework of a building renovation in Buenos Aires financed with the enormous resources of the agro-export model. At the end of the 20th century it was disaffected from the National Post and Telegraph Company.

As the commemorations of the bicentennial of the May Revolution, President Néstor Kirchner decided to install the “Bicentennial Cultural Center” in the historic building of the Central Post Office. and called, in 2006, an international competition for preliminary projects in order to decide what new use to give it to achieve that purpose.

The works began in 2010 under the presidency of Cristina Kirchner, who inaugurated a first part that same year. They continued until 2012 when it was also named Dr. Néstor Carlos Kirchner Cultural Centerin tribute to the then deceased former president.
